Meet Lynn McLarty
Lynn McLarty is a retired U.S. Navy veteran and has been happily married to his wife, Susan, for 34 years. Together, they have raised five children and are blessed with 11 grandchildren. Four children and two grandchildren have successfully graduated from high schools in the Shawnee Mission School District.
During his professional career, Lynn dedicated 12 years to DST Systems, where he worked in Client Services and Software Development. Following that, he spent nearly 15 years at Sprint, contributing to IT Software Development. Lynn holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, which has provided him with a solid foundation in the business realm.
In 2022, Lynn witnessed the signing of House Bill 2466 by the Governor of Kansas. Known as the Promoting Advancement in Computing Knowledge Act, the law aims to foster computer science education in Kansas schools. Lynn's extensive work experience in both hardware and software development positions him perfectly to contribute significantly to the advancement of computer science education within the Shawnee Mission School District.
Lynn's dedication to community involvement is evident through his service on the Board of Directors of the 3&2 Baseball Club of Johnson County for more than seven years. During that time, he also held the position of Sportsmanship Director, ensuring the organization upheld the highest standards of fair play and respect. Lynn's passion for youth development extended to coaching youth baseball for several years and serving as a Cub Scout leader.
Lynn actively volunteered for Junior Achievement, bringing prepared curriculum to classrooms across multiple Johnson County elementary schools. He also has many years of experience assisting with children's church programs, demonstrating his commitment to the spiritual growth and well-being of young people.
